Environment Minister Phil Hogan has welcomed the announcement by Housing Minister Jan O’Sullivan of more than €5 million in housing and regeneration projects across Kilkenny for 2012.
The money for Kilkenny includes €4,860,000 for housing supply and €497,048 for improving housing stock including regeneration.
The 2012 improvement works programme will focus on returning vacant properties to a lettable standard and to reduce housing need, while also improving the energy efficiency of units to address energy affordability and fuel poverty.
The funding is part of national allocations totalling over €250 million for housing and regeneration.
“This is a major investment and one which reflects the Government’s continued commitment to providing social housing,” Minister Hogan said.
