Woman rescued from river

A woman was hauled from the river by brave members of Kilkenny Gardai on Tuesday afternoon. Two local members of the Gardai entered the river Nore just below the Greens bridge, while a third Garda called for an ambulance from the bank.

A woman was hauled from the river by brave members of Kilkenny Gardai on Tuesday afternoon. Two local members of the Gardai entered the river Nore just below the Greens bridge, while a third Garda called for an ambulance from the bank.

A female member of the Gardai and a male colleague succeeded in rescuing a woman from the river. An ambulance was called to the scene of the incident and the woman was taken to St Luke’s hospital where she received treatment.

The Gardai receive training on how to deal with water based incidents during their time in the Garda training college in Templemore.
