Kilkenny City Vocational School principal gets her costs

THERE was more good news for the principal of Kilkenny City Vocational School, Cathy McSorley, last week when she returned to the High Court after her successful action preventing her removal for her job following an independent enquiry into her running of the school.

THERE was more good news for the principal of Kilkenny City Vocational School, Cathy McSorley, last week when she returned to the High Court after her successful action preventing her removal for her job following an independent enquiry into her running of the school.

She was given her costs, believed to be around E200,000 by Mr Justice Hedifan in the successful action she brought against her attempted sacking by the Minister for Education, Ruairi Quinn.

Following oral submissions in the court from counsel for the Applicant. Ms Mc McSorley and the respondents (Minister for Education and Skills and Co Kilkenny VEC), he granted an order of Certiorari, quashing the decision of the Minister to dismiss Ms McSorley from her post.

The Minister for Education and County Kilkenny VEC are not expected to lodge an appeal against the ruling.
