Call for 24-hour Garda station in ’Comer as crimes hit North Kilkenny

Cllr John Brennan (FG) is again appealing for a 24-hour Garda station in Castlecomer following several thefts and break-ins in the North Kilkenny area.

Cllr John Brennan (FG) is again appealing for a 24-hour Garda station in Castlecomer following several thefts and break-ins in the North Kilkenny area.

The oil has been stolen from Coon church on three recent occasions, a trailer has been stolen from a farmer’s yard, and at least one house has been broken into, he said.

Many incidents have taken place in the hours after the Castlecomer Garda Station is closed, he said.

“I am calling for the Castlecomer Garda Station to be manned 24 hours a day. If more resources are not made available, these break-ins are going to continue,” he said. “A lot of people in rural areas are living in fear in their own homes, and it is a sad reflection on our society that it is happening.”

“The provision of more Garda resources has to be a priority,” he said.
