GARDAI are warning people to be extra vigilant following a spate of break ins in recent days.

There were 13 burglaries in the past week with heating pumps and radiators stolen from houses. Areas targeted by criminals were Ballycallan, Ballyragget, Johnstown and the city.

“While there are local criminals involved there is a growing occurrence of travelling gangs coming down on the motorway and targeting houses close to the exits. Most of the break ins took place in the early afternoon. People are being urged to be extra vigilant and to use alarms where possible. Anyone who sees anything that is suspicious should contact their local gardai immediately,” he said.
