Remembering Melosina by the river

Melosina Lenox-Conyngham’s relatives and friends were overcome by the response to the idea of placing a bench in her memory on the river bank along the Nore Valley Walk. Donations were so generous that it was also possible to give a cheque for €3,930 to the Irish Cancer Society’s Action Breast Cancer Fund out of the money donated.

The lovely stone bench, inscribed with her name is now in place. It is situated on a stretch of the River Nore, below Lavistown House, in an area known to fishermen as the Minister’s Hole. It is already being availed of by those using and enjoying the Nore Valley Walk.
