A THOMASTOWN man was fined €200 at Kilkenny District Court last week for a driving offence.
Adam Splini of 19 The Belfry, Thomastown entered a plea of guilty to an offence of driving without reasonable consideration at Jerpoint, Thomastown on October 2, 2010.
Garda Damien Rafter told the court that on 8.13pm on the day in question, he observed a car coming down a side road and then failing to stop at a ‘stop’ sign.
“He pulled away from the junction in the direction of Thomastown and accelerated very hard away from the junction,” Garda Rafter told the court. “The back of the car fish-tailed and nearly went into a ditch. ... He nearly lost control of the vehicle and crashed it.”
Splini’s solicitor, Michael Lanigan told the court: “He would have, at the time, been a little bit more impetuous than he should have been, and he apologises for that.”
