FRIENDS and family of some of Kilkenny’s most inspirational people will gather in the Newpark Hotel on October 26 for the 16th annual Kilkenny People of the Years Awards.
Chairman Declan McCann welcomed all the award recipients and congratulated them at a special reception in the Newpark Hotel last Thursday. “These awards give recognition to people who make a huge contribution to their local community and to society. They are very special people who deserve to be honoured and respected and looked up to. It is important that the people who put in the work are honoured and this inspires and encourages other people to do the same,” he said.
Hugh Maddock of Rehab remarked that the awards ceremony is an important fundraiser for the organisation. “We are affected by cuts so the monies raised by an event like this are hugely important to us. It is a night of celebration and of great fun. It is all about the winners and each and everyone of you is a winner,” he added.
Tickets for the event are priced at €50 and include a gala banquet and are available from Rehab on William Street. Music on the night will be provided by Route 66 and MC on the night is Anne Doyle of RTE fame.
