For the past year, the students in Loreto Secondary School have been involved in the Active Flag project.

The aim of this initiative has been to encourage health and fitness among the school community. The success in achieving this Active Flag is due to the great work put in by PE teacher Teresa O’Hanlon and the TY students.

There were many worthwhile events organised throughout the school, involving both staff and students last year – and this year’s TY students are continuing and developing the initiative. It was a great honour to have local Olympic athlete and Loreto past pupil Joanne Cuddihy visit the school on Thursday, December 6 to officially unveil the Active Flag.

Joanne spoke to the school community, telling her story and offering her encouragement to young people to be active. Even if a student is not sporty, they can always go for a brisk walk.

The Active Flag will now fly proudly above the school alongside the Green Flag.
