Plans for a cafe/restaurant in the city’s High Street Mall have been approved by Kilkenny Borough Council – but the premises is not allowed to be used as a fast-food outlet or takeaway.
The plans by Melcorpo Commercial Properties Ltd include the amalgamation of units 3, 18 and 19 at first-floor level within the High Street Mall at High Street, Kilkenny. The three units, a total of 90.8 square metres, are currently vacant.
Opening hours for the cafe/restaurant are to be 8am to 6pm daily, as a condition of the planning permission.
Plans to build a gaming arcade in High Street Mall units 9-16 were turned down by the Borough Council earlier this year, and that decision was appealed to An Bord Pleanála by the developer.
