Motorway to be closed for a month
The M9 motorway between Danesfort and Paulstown will be closed for a month starting on October 8 as emergency road works are carried out.
The entire embankment has to be removed and the road structure fixed as a result of the subsidence that has taken place, Kilkenny County Council director of services John Mulholland told members at their meeting on Monday.
“It is not possible to do a noninvasive treatment,” he said, adding that the contractor “will be working day and night to try to get it done before the winter.”
The motorway will be closed from Junction 7 (Paulstown) to Junction 9 (Danesfort) in both directions.
Mr Mulholland emphasised that the repairs are being paid for by the contractor, not the state.
