The lady captain of Hendon Golf Club in North West London is Margaret Schwitzer (nee Rowe), daughter of the late Bea Rowe (nee Byrne of Johnstown, Co Kilkenny) and Michael (Mick) Rowe from Urlingford.

The lady captain of Hendon Golf Club in North West London is Margaret Schwitzer (nee Rowe), daughter of the late Bea Rowe (nee Byrne of Johnstown, Co Kilkenny) and Michael (Mick) Rowe from Urlingford.

Her father Mick played in goal for the Kilkenny senior hurling team during the 1950s including in the 1954 league final in which Billy Quinn, Niall Quinn’s father, captained Tipperary to victory. Mick emigrated to England in the late 1950s. Before emigrating Mick worked in Jimmy Holohan’s shop beside Hayes’ pub in Urlingford.

Jimmy was godfather to Margaret. Margaret moved to London with her family aged three in 1959. She worked in PR and as a PA and also was an air stewardess for British Caledonian Airways. She took up golf in 2007. Margaret married Peter Schwitzer in 1986 and the couple have three adult children, Daniel, Chloe and Joseph.
