Despite getting over 4,000 votes on line, the Kilkenny city skate park project will not be receiving a grant from Diageo.

The Kilkenny Skate park project topped the on-line poll in the Arthur Guinness Projects 2013, which is a marketing initiative by the global drinks company that owns St Francis Abbey Brewery in Kilkenny city. Community activist, Mick Greene who championed the campaign is gutted. “It’s very disappointing however, we remain focused and determined. We have committed to bringing a skate park to Kilkenny and we will not waiver. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your support. Watch this space for some big fund-raising announcements,” he said on his Facebook page.
