There remains a palpable sense of shock and sadness in Kilkenny this morning, as locals attempt to come to terms with the death of six-year-old Jake Brennan.
Neighbours, local residents at Lintown Grove, and others have begun leaving floral tributes near the home of the Brennan family this morning. The little boy was out playing around 6.30pm yesterday evening when he was hit by a car.
Jake’s parents, Roseanne and Christopher Brennan, were close by when the accident happened. The heartbroken couple have two other children – four-month-old baby Savannah and three-year-old Kaelem.
Local residents have been consoling one another and have cancelled activities that had been planned for this weekend.
Gardai are investigating the incident and have appealed for witnesses to contact Kilkenny Garda station on 056-7775000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any Garda station.
