GARDAI are investigating the possibility that an axe was used in a vicious attack in Borris last Friday night.
The incident happened shortly after midnight when a man, in his late forties was set up and assaulted by four males. He sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital where was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit where he is in a serious condition and is being treated for head injuries.
An axe was found close to the scene and gardai have seized the weapon. Gardai are continuing to investigate the incident and no arrests have been made. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Thomastown gardai on 056 772 4222.
