Look what has hatched for Easter

This baby yellow-foot tortoise has hatched out in time for Easter at Reptile Village Zoo in Gowran, Kilkenny.

This baby yellow-foot tortoise has hatched out in time for Easter at Reptile Village Zoo in Gowran, Kilkenny.

According to Zoo director James Hennessy, a 40 year old female, called Michelle laid five eggs of which four healthy babies hatched.

They are 4cm long and weight only a couple of grams, compared to their mother who weighs 7kg and is 35cm long. The new-borns should grow rapidly, and can live for up to 80 years.
