In Kilkenny, rents in the second quarter of 2012 were 1.9% lower than a year previously.
The average rent is now €627, a fall of 29% from the peak. Ronan Lyons, economist and author of the report from leading property website, Daft, noted that supply conditions are becoming tighter. “This is the third summer in a row where there were fewer properties available to rent nationwide at any one time. This is particularly the case in Dublin, which means that some prospective tenants may find that they have to live further out than expected,” he said.
