Kilkenny restaurant Campagne has added yet another decoration to its already-burgeoning awards cabinet.
Chef and proprietor Garret Byrne received his Best Leinster Chef Award, while the restaurant also won the Best Leinster Restaurant category, at the Food and Wine Magazine/Maison Louis Latour Restaurant of the Year Awards in Dublin’s Convention Centre last week. The Kilkenny chef had already been crowned Best Chef in Ireland at the Irish Restaurant Awards in May, at which Campagne was also named Best Restaurant in Leinster.
Mr Byrne is originally from Newpark and attended Kilkenny’s CBS. He opened Campagne, at Gashouse Lane in 2008 with his partner Brid.
The restaurant employs 12 staff and is enjoying solid business. It has an emphasis on supporting local food producers.
