THE Kilkenny senior hurlers family race day at Gowran Park, due to take place tomorrow, has been cancelled due to a waterlogged track.
Officials moved forward their inspection of the track to early this morning, following last night’s deluge.
Inclement weather saw almost 28mm (over 1”) of rain fall in Kilkenny up to 9am this morning, according to website kilkennyweather.ie. Data from Kilkenny Weather also reveals that it was the wettest March day in almost a decade.
The racing event was due to be held at Gowran Park to celebrate the county’s victory in six of the last seven All-Ireland senior hurling finals.
