Kilkenny man Colm Mealy has won a gold award in a major Hollywood Screenplay contest with his screenplay.

Kilkenny man Colm Mealy has won a gold award in a major Hollywood Screenplay contest with his screenplay.

The biography - Insurrection, Resurrection – chronicles the life of Edmund Ignatius Rice.

Meany admits that he has alwys been fascinated by the eighteenth century time period in Ireland. “What I‘ve tried to do is portray all these political developments through the eye of one man, Eamon Rice, who in his day was a self-made multimillionaire by today’s standards. It’s a classic rags to riches story.”

The Hollywood Screenplay Contest is open to both established and new screenwriters and all of the judges are leading Hollywood industry professionals. The awards ceremony takes place on November 11 in Hollywood. Colm Mealy is currently lives and works in the Sultanate of Oman.
