GARDAI have released the man being held for questioning in relation to the murder of Kilkenny man Tony Barrett in the city. The suspect in his early to mid 40s was released from Thomastown Garda station on Wednesday morning following 24 hours of interviews by detectives investigating how Mr Barrett died in a house at Fatima place, Kilkenny city on Thursday, March 7.
It is understood that a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) who will decide whether or not charges should be preferred in the case. Mr Barrett’s body still has not been returned to his family in Castlecomer for burial.
