A KILKENNY woman has made the top 10 shortlist for a national song contest.

Hazel Bolger, 19, is one of ten semi-finalists to have been selected from the Le Crunch Apple of My Eye Song Contest, in association with Today FM. For the last four weeks, apple brand Le Crunch teamed up with Today FM to search for Ireland’s greatest cover version and the next best singing sensation.

The Le Crunch Apple of My Eye song contest has been open to anyone and everyone across the country who fancied themselves as being able to hit all the right notes with their choice of tune. The competition received hundreds of entries from all over the country and the quality of entries was very high, with singers as young as nine from across Ireland.

Today FM will be playing the ten best entries on the The KC show on Today FM each day this week with five of these artists going on to the National Final in The Sugar Club on Thursday, March 28.

Four of these finalists will be chosen by the panel of expert judges, which includes homegrown acts such as Royseven frontman Paul Walsh and the hugely talented Roisin O. The fifth finalist will be chosen by the public, who have the opportunity to place their vote by logging onto the website Voting closes 2pm Friday March 22.

The overall winner will be selected by the panel of judges at the final and presented with €8,000 cash. For further information please go to
