THE Cabinet has approved the second stage of the setting up of the Technical University for the South East. It has asked Waterford IT and IT Carlow to draw up a memorandum of understanding to move on the process. It marks the second of four stages in the plan for the university.
And the Higher Education Authority (HEA) has submitted its report on the new university to Education Minister, Ruairi Quinn in order to meet international guidelines. A co-ordinator is to be appointed to assist in the setting up of the university.
“These latest developments are in line with our commitment contained in the Programme for government,” Environment Minister Phil Hogan said.
