Three candidates from Fianna Fail have been selected to contest next year’s local elections in the west of the city, an area that also takes in Callan.
There was no joy for sitting city borough councillor, Joe Malone who was beaten into fourth place. However, Cllr Malone had been expecting the result as the other side of the city, is his main power base but he decided to run in the west to accommodate other candidates.
There is a new face on the Fianna Fail ticket this time around. Paddy McKee from Loughboy was selected at the meeting in the Newpark Hotel last night. He will join sitting councillors, John Coonan, Loughboy and Matt Doran, Kilmoganny on the ballot paper next May.
