Kilkenny is bracing itself for a cold, windy but hopefully dry Christmas according to local website www.kilkennyweather.com.
Today (Monday) started wet and windy, with rain and gales in the early hours, which are expected to return this evening. Met Eireann has issued weather alerts for parts of the country, with gale winds and showers making driving conditions difficult and leaving some areas without electrictiy – albeit not in Kilkenny.
Kilkennyweather.com says Christmas Eve will be very windy again with wintry showers of sleet and hail potentially during the day.
A frosty start looks on the cards for Christmas Day, but no sign yet of a White Christmas . It should remain dry with some sunshine.
Christmas night will see the return of the frost, before a milder St Stephen’s Day . Rain and wind is expected for Friday.
