Councillor David Fitzgerald has announced his intention to seek the nomination of the Fine Gael party as a candidate in the upcoming by-election.

A former Mayor of Kilkenny City, Fitzgerald recently celebrated Tidy Towns Success for Kilkenny City as the Chairman of Keep Kilkenny Beautiful.

“I have had numerous offers of support and encouragement to put my name forward,” said the recent poll-topper in the Kilkenny West area of the local elections.

Son of Alexis and Mary Fitzgerald, he has served as President of the Chamber of Commerce and has been an IFA member for 20 years

An auctioneer in the city, he is the nephew of former TD Kieran Crotty.
