Story bag presentation to the library

A GROUP of women working with the Co. Kilkenny Adult Learning Centre on a family learning programme at the Newpark Resource Centre have had some fun producing a story bag for pre-school children and are presenting one to the library in John’s Quay and one to the crèche at Newpark Resource Centre.

The idea is that the child can use the ‘props’ in the bag to help tell the story, listen to the story on CD while following the words on the page, play games with the characters from the story and read a small factual book all of which will help encourage a love of reading stories. With imagination, children may even use the props to tell their own new story!

As a bonus, while working on this project the group have completed a FETAC craft module. The presentation will take place this morning (April 13) at 11am in the library.
