THE Kilkenny team for the National Ploughing Championships in New Ross next September has been finalised. In the Intermediate conventional class: Willie Ryan, Tullogher; Cathal Brady, Gowran and Tommy Cuddihy, Jenkinstown will fly the county’s colours.
In the intermediate reversible section, the ever reliable Brian Ireland from Danesfort will be joined on the starting tape by his brother Gary. In the Under 28 conventional class, former All Ireland champion Thomas Hartley, Glenmore will compete for the last time before going senior - What a prospect.
In the under 21 conventional: Tony McGrath. Mooncoin is the standard bearer.
The rest of the team: Three furrow standard: Michael Doran, Mooncoin; three furrow reversible: Robert Madigan, Firhouse; farmerette, Kathleen Cummins, Knocktopher; vintage. two furrow mounted: Tommy Cullen, Bennettsbridge; single furrow vintage: Peter McDonald, Mullinavat; under 28 reversible: Andrew Ireland, Danesfort; Macra Eamon O’Donovan, Mooncoin.
