A group of Kilkenny CBS sixth year students accompanied by Business teacher Deirdre Roche recently visited Oldtown Hill Bakehouse as part of their LCVP Programme.
The owners, Joy and Jim Moore, work seven days a week to deliver directly to the shops so consumers can savour the freshest breads, scones, tarts, cakes and their flagship product ‘Dolly’s Donuts’ in local stores.
The thriving company is based on a dairy farm in the rolling Slieveardagh Hills of Kilkenny where they are surrounded by fresh air, cows, calves, a three-legged Jack Russell, and a big playful Labrador pup. The students got to see first hand how the products are made and best of all to sample their delicious low fat/low calorie donuts.
Joy and Jim also very kindly provided an array of delicious donuts for the staff at the CBS for the morning coffee break. The school wishes the proprietors and staff at Oldtown Hill every further success in these trying economic times.
