Loreto enjoys a day of sporting action

Loreto Kilkenny and 60 of its future soccer stars recently enjoyed a fun-filled Friday that will live long in the memory.

Loreto Kilkenny and 60 of its future soccer stars recently enjoyed a fun-filled Friday that will live long in the memory.

In an action-packed day, the students set off for Dublin. Three teams from Loreto played very competitive friendlies against Alexandra College.

Loreto won two of the matches convincingly and lost the other in a very tight encounter. Then it was onto the Aviva Stadium, where many students got their first taste of a big international match.

It was to end in tears for the Irish senior team, but the skill, fluidity and attacking panache of the Germans was what will stick in the memory most.

Many thanks to Mr McGinley who organised the trip and to Barry O’Neill and Ms Dooley for all their hard work on the trip, and to the students who were impeccably behaved throughout.
