Kilkenny local authorities have moved to take in charge of city estate Deans Court, following the passing of a motion at the October meeting of Kilkenny Borough Council.
Proposing the notice of motion, Cllr John Coonan (Fianna Fail) said that the estate need to be taken in charge as a matter of priority.
“The chairman of the residents’ association, Sean Grady, has been actively pursuing this for some time,” he said.
“In all fairness to the residents, it is a small estate which is highly maintained. It is well past the time that this estate be taken into charge, without any further delay.
A snag list is still being drawn up.
Fine Gael Cllr Martin Brett seconded the deputy mayor’s proposal.
“I support the motion – it is an area for the residents in which we need to do all that is necessary,” he said.
“They have been patient enough.”
