SANTA Claus paid a special visit to the Amber Women’s Refuge on Christmas Day.
The shelter, which provides refuge for women and children was ‘busy’ over the festive period.
“Domestic violence is a year round issue. It seems to be increasing year on year and there of a lot of people from different cultural backgrounds using our services.
“People are under a lot of pressure and many people have financial issues. The workers are an integral part of our service and they work 24 hours a day every day of the year so I want to thank them for making sure Christmas Day was a special one.
“I am delighted that Santa Claus visited all the children and we enjoyed a very special meal. I would like to thank the people of Kilkenny for their generosity and the HSE and local authority for their continued support. We had a lovely celebration and it was wonderful to see the children enjoy the day,” said manager of Amber Tina Sullivan.
