Gardai in Kilkenny are appealing to the public for assistance in the ongoing investigation into the murder of 26-year-old Mairead Moran.
Superintendent Padraig Dunne has issued an appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of the Market Cross Shopping Centre in the heart of the city between 8pm and 9pm last night to contact the gardai.
“We are looking to speak to anyone who was in the shopping centre or the general area during that time period to contact us.
“We are also appealing to anyone with information that may be of assistance to contact us,” he added.
Ms Moran was fatally stabbed in the shopping centre shortly after 8.30pm. Despite efforts to save her from people at the scene she was pronounced dead a short time later at St Luke’s Hospital.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilkenny gardai on (056) 777 5000.
