Young man dead after accident

A single car accident in south Kilkenny has left one man dead and a second in a critical collision earlier today (23 December 2011).

A single car accident in south Kilkenny has left one man dead and a second in a critical collision earlier today (23 December 2011).

The accident occurred on the old Kilkenny to Waterford road, the N9 three kilometres south of Mullinavat in the townland of Rossinan.

There were three occupants in the car when the accident occurred at approximately 1.20pm. The three male occupants of the car were all seriously injured in the collision. A 19 year old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. He was taken to the Morgue at Waterford Regional Hospital, the other two occupants were taken to Waterford Regional Hospital for treatment. One of the occupants is on a life support machine while the third is described as being in a stable condition.

The road is closed pending a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place. Gardai from Thomastown, are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
