Gardai in Kilkenny are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire that broke out in the Hebron Industrial Estate last night (Wednesday).
Fire services were called to the scene of the blaze at 9.30pm. Two fire engines and 12 fire fighters were required to extinguish the fire, which began in two pre-fabricated buildings to the rear of an industrial unit.
There were no injuries. However, two neighbouring units – Coyne Glass and Glazing, as well as the Kilkenny Community Radio broadcast headquarters – received minor damage also.
Gardai were called to the scene, and the incident is now being treated as a ‘fire of doubtful origin’. The prefab buildings were a well-known hotspot for anti-social behaviour in the area.
