Leader offers training in IT and woodwork, plus a women’s group

Kilkenny Leader Partnership is offering the following courses in Kilkenny city:

Communities Connect IT: This course will cover email, the Internet, digital photography basics, Skype (using the Internet for video or voice telecommunications), and an introduction to online social networking including Facebook and Twitter. The course will take place for two hours a week over five weeks. Day and evening options will be available. There is a nominal charge of €10 and workbooks are supplied. Introduction to Woodwork Course: This seven-week course will equip participants with the skills of basic woodwork. At the end of the course participants will have an understanding of using trade hand tools and the skills of the trade. Participants will measure, cut and build their own course project of a bookcase, which they can bring home with them at the end of the course. The course will commence on week beginning on October 15 (exact day to be decided). It will take place in O’Loughlin Court one morning a week from 10am to 1pm. A small fee will be applicable to cover costs of materials for practical use. Contact Connie McGee on 086 7718040.

Cross Community Women’s Group: Are you interested in getting together one evening a week to meet new people and to learn new skills and have some fun? If you are, then maybe a Women’s Group is the thing for you. The Cross Community Women’s group will a space for women for themselves and an opportunity to meet other women from different areas of the city. Do you have particular skills that you would like to share with the group? This is a new venture and a meeting will take place to discuss formation of the group if there is enough interest.
