Free collection of electrical waste

WEEE Ireland is returning to Cillín Hill mart this Saturday from 10am to 4pm for its final electrical collection of 2012.

WEEE Ireland is returning to Cillín Hill mart this Saturday from 10am to 4pm for its final electrical collection of 2012.

Kilkenny County Council is urging all residents to avail of this free service and clear their houses of broken household electrical equipment and waste batteries, CFL bulbs and fluorescent tubes. “Items frequently forgotten about include battery-operated plastic toys and smaller items such as watches and old calculators,” said environmental awareness officer Bernadette Moloney. “I bet there isn’t a house in Kilkenny that doesn’t have a few waste batteries lying loose in a kitchen drawer, and this is a great opportunity to clear out unwanted electrical clutter.”
