FORMER Rose Stephanie O’Dwyer won the hearts of the people of Kilkenny when she represneted them in the Rose of Tralee competition in 2009.

Stephanie, who is from the Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny will be competing in the Simply Be Curvy 2013 competition to become the face of the company’s Spring Summer 2013 catalogue. Selected from over 5,000 entries, Stephanie will be competing with 19 other women from across the country at the Simply Be Curvy bootcamp in Dublin this weekend.

Stephanie is 30 years old and is from The Weir, Castlecomer Road in Kilkenny. She will be participating in this weekend’s Xpose boot camp where she will be given workshops from a host of experts from the Irish fashion industry and which will be filmed by TV3’s premier fashion show, Xpose. The experts include Model Agent, Celia Holman Lee, Fashion Photographer Lili Forberg, Hair Stylist to the Stars, Michael Leong and Fashion Stylist, Sonja Mohlich.

Over the past five years the Simply Be Curvy competition has grown from strength to strength and receives thousands of entrants every year. The competition celebrates the curvaceous figure, while also giving the winner a fantastic platform to launch a career in modelling or fashion. The competition has instilled confidence and launched the careers of some of Ireland’s most successful plus size models including Karen Forde (Miss Curvy), Tia Duffy, Louise O’Reilly and Brianna Connaughton.

Speaking about the competition, Simply Be’s Commercial Director, Brenda O’Sullivan said,“We are very proud of how the Simply Be Curvy competition has grown over the years and feel we have impacted both the media and model agencies to put more emphasis on the curvy model category. This year’s Simply Be Curvy 2013 has partnered with Xpose which will further project Ireland’s curvy ladies on a national platform. This year we are offering not only a chance to become Simply Be’s 2013 cover girl, but also our 20 finalists will have the opportunity to be trained by a team of Ireland’s leading fashion experts and appear on Xpose! Our aim is to make a modelling dream come true,” she said.
