One of Kilkenny’s best loved characters, Mr Jerry Dunne, Green Street, Kilkenny has passed away.
The octogenarian was a fixture during the annual St Patrick’s Day parade in the city for many years. He used to bring his donkey and cart along the route, with a different theme each year. He was had a wonderful display on his house, under Green’s Bridge, every Christmas.
He had been in failing health for a number of years but remained a staunch Fianna Fail supporter up to the time of his death,
He was predeceased by his wife Winifred some years ago and was the much loved father of Margaret, Jimmy, Billy, Gerry and Richard. He also leaves behind, brothers Jimmy and Michael, sister Margaret, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Funeral Prayers this evening (Thursday) at 6.30pm in Johnston’s Funeral Home followed by removal to St. Canice’s Church. Funeral after 11am Mass on Friday to St. Kieran’s Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to the Friends of St. Luke’s. House private please.
