Brett Brothers based in Callan have started construction of a new 20,000 tonne grain storage and treatment plant at their Callan complex. This will centralise all grain drying and storage in Callan and Windgap.

The new complex is a €3 million investment and is scheduled for completion in time for this year’s harvest. Bretts purchase 50,000 of wheat, barley and oats each harvest. The barley and wheat are for use in their Brett range of animal feeds and the oats are for Flahavans porridge.

Managing Director Jimmy Brett said, “Our new plant will eliminate a lot of costs associated with outsourcing and double handling. We have a big commitment to native grain and we intend to continue supporting growers through our established Agronomy service and a highly efficient grain intake”.
