A man has lost his life in a road accident in the south of the county.
Gardaí at Thomastown are investigating the single vehicle, fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the N9 at Knockwilliam, Ballyhale last night at approximately 9.15pm.
A male, 42 years, sole occupant of vehicle, was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a bridge. He was pronounced dead at scene and removed to Waterford Regional Hospital, where a full post mortem will take place tomorrow, Monday.
The vehicle was travelling on the N9 from Ballyhale in the direction of Mullinavat, County Kilkenny. The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.
