MACHINERY valued at €150,000 was stolen from a Johnstown company over the weekend in an ‘elaborate oparation’ that gardai believe took a number of hours to execute.
The gang forced their way in through secure gates at the premises between midnight on Saturday night and 8am on Sunday morning and stole two mobile homes and two lowloaders. “It would have taken a considerable period of time for them to load up and remove the two homes and they would have had to use forklifts and other machinery,” a garda spokesman said.
It is believed that this was an organised crime and investigating gardai believe that the homes may have been ‘stolen to order’. Gardai are appealing to anyone who saw the vehicles being transported on the road on Sunday morning to contact them. “It is more than likely that they were travelling in convoy so anyone who passed them should contact us,” a garda spokesman said.
