IF you’re looking to learn about the internet then the Presentation Secondary School is looking for you.
As part of a novel, national community programme the Presentation Secondary School are looking for volunteers to participate in a programme called log on learn, designed to ‘buddy up’ a participating transition-year student with an older person from their local community to share skills with each other. The programme will commence on October 5 at 11.4 am in the school for six weeks.
Modules within the programme will enable the student to share common IT skills, including the use of the internet for common tasks. The one-to-one aspect of training will enable the students to tailor the training to suit each older person’s needs. The programme is sponsored by Intel and An Post.
This six-module programme will take the older person’s initial skill level, learning pace, interests and hobbies into account and aims to build confidence and have fun surfing the net, booking holidays and organising their finances from the comfort of their own homes. Anyone interested in participating in the programme should contact the school secretary and leave their name and details. For further information call (056) 7765684.
