Shock in Urlingford over death

THE PEOPLE of Urlingford are in shock after the death of a popular member of their community who died in tragic circumstances on Tuesday afternoon.

THE PEOPLE of Urlingford are in shock after the death of a popular member of their community who died in tragic circumstances on Tuesday afternoon.

The man has been named locally as Martin Guilfoyle. Mr Guilfoyle died following an accident at his workplace, Bernard Kavanaghs Coach and Bus Hire. Gardai and emergency services attended the scene immediately after the accident. Two inspectors from the Health and Safety Authority have began their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death yesterday evening.

A spokesperson for Bernard Kavanagh and Sons said “The management and staff at Bernard Kavanagh and Sons Ltd Kilkenny are extremely shocked by yesterday’s events which resulted in the death of our colleague Martin Guilfoyle. Our thoughts are with his family at this terrible time. We are working with the relevant authorities on their investigation in every way possible. Our primary concern is for his family at this time and we are doing everything in our power to help them cope with this tragedy. Martin Guilfoyle was a valued member of our team for over 27 years and we considered him to a part of our family.”
