Arms, ammunition, drugs, cash, pipe bombs and weapons found in South Kilkenny searches

A NUMBER of firearms and a quantity of ammunition was recovered in a number of planned raids across South Kilkenny on Friday morning and afternoon. Gardai from Thomastown Garda station under the command of Supt Kevin Dolan also found two pipe bombs in the early stages of production which were not viable and are not believed to be linked to dissident republicans.

A NUMBER of firearms and a quantity of ammunition was recovered in a number of planned raids across South Kilkenny on Friday morning and afternoon. Gardai from Thomastown Garda station under the command of Supt Kevin Dolan also found two pipe bombs in the early stages of production which were not viable and are not believed to be linked to dissident republicans.

The haul also included a significant amount of cash, drugs and other weapons. The operation was in response to a number of armed raids across county Kilkenny over the last few months.

Three people are in custody following the searches; two are being detained at Thomastown Garda Station and one is in custody at Waterford Garda Station. All three are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act.
