Cllr Sean O’hArgain has been unanimously elected the new mayor of Kilkenny city.
His election to the office took place at the Town Hall on Thursday evening, and for the first time in some years the position was uncontested.
The new Deputy Mayor is Fianna Fail’s John Coonan.
O’Hargain, a Labour Party representative, is (we believe) the first Kerry man to be the mayor of Kilkenny City.
