The announcement that 91 new special-needs classes will come on stream in September, including six in Carlow-Kilkenny, has been welcomed by local representatives.
“I am delighted to see six local schools across Carlow and Kilkenny benefitting from this news,” said Deputy Ann Phelan, and Cllr Maurice Shortall added: “This is great news for over 500 children in 88 primary and post-primary schools around the country. The provision of special-needs education is vital in ensuring that all of our children are given the same opportunity to thrive in an environment that best suits their needs.”
“From a local perspective its tremendous to see Castlecomer Community School and Kilkenny City VEC have been included in the programme,” he said.
