Gardai in Carlow arrested a man in his early 20s following a robbery at a premises yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon in Leighlinbridge.
At approximately 12.10pm a lone male entered the post office on High Street and threatened a customer with a knife before escaping on foot with an amount of cash. The staff and customers were uninjured.
During a follow up operation a man aged in his 20s was arrested. He was taken to Carlow Garda Station and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. He has been charged and will appear before Kilkenny District Court this morning at 10.30am in relation to the incident.
