Four young ladies, pupils of Loreto Secondary School and former pupils of St Canice’s National School, participated in the Electric Ireland Feis Ceoil at the RDS on March 12.
They received silver medals for second place in the Junior Chamber music competition. This quartet, known as ‘Simply Strings’, had a busy weekend taking part in the Kilkenny Music festival, winning the Siobhan Dowling Cup in the Senior Chamber music competition.
The members of Simply Strings quartet were also successful in a number of individual competitions at the Kilkenny Music Festival; Anna Walsh achieved second place in the under-17 violin competition, Jenna Raggett won first place in the under-15 piano and under-16 flute competitions and also second place in the under-15 piano competition.
Elizabeth Boland won the under-17 piano duet competition accompanied by her twin sister Marie Therese; Marie Therese also won the under-17 violin and piano competitions.
These young ladies are delighted with their success and are very grateful to their parents and all of their music teachers past and present for their help, encouragement and guidance in their music development.
