Extra funding has been announced for the local CBS Secondary School, with alterations planned for the home economics room and career guidance room, music room, refurbishment of the science and physics room and modifications to the library/IT room, toilets, locker area and new lifts.
The funding is part of the School Building Programme, which has also seen allocations for Duiske College, Graignamanagh, SN Seamus Naofa, Glenmore, St Lachtain’s National School, Freshford, Gowran National School, and Colaiste Pobail Osrai, Kilkenny. Local TD Ann Phelan has welcomed the announcement.
“It is estimated that an additional 70,000 students will be attending primary and post-primary schools from now until 2018, this is therefore, a very welcome announcement and once again highlights the continued commitment by Government to education,” she said.
“Local employment levels should receive a boost as part of these type of announcements also.”
